People in Cincinnati, Ohio LOVE their chili and are proud of their version. They have over 180 chili parlors, but of course none for the four-legged kind. We made a version that dogs can enjoy too. What makes Cincinnati chili different? The way the meat is cooked. It has a thinner consistency and is prepared with an unusual blend of spices. We have left out the ones not suitable for dogs. Spoon our version over freshly made spaghetti.
1 pound extra-lean ground beef
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 15 ounce can of tomato sauce
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup water
In a large frying pan over medium heat, saute ground beef, cinnamon and turmeric until ground beef is slightly cooked.
Add tomato sauce, vinegar and water. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 2 hours. Remove from heat.
Cook spaghetti and drain. Transfer onto plate and ladle sauce over it. Let cool completely before serving to your dog. Top with low-fat cheese if desired.
